The Fault In Our Stars Review & Rant about “the noisy cinema people”

So the movie is PG13, so this post will also be PG13. Shall we get started then?
May contain spoilers.

So I met up with my friend for our yearly outing and we decided to watch The Fault In Our Stars on the premier date for Singapore. Who knew the cinema would all be booked out leaving us no choice but to go for a 5pm+ timeslot.

So we went to the Golden Village cinema at Jurong Point and got surprisingly nice seats.
Here’s proof that I actually went there. See the “13” there? #swiftie

Dem fat hands

So we reach there rather early and there were playing Ed Sheeran’s beautiful song “All Of The Stars”… on repeat (the song sounded horrible through their shitty speakers). My friend got rather annoyed at the song after hearing it for the 3rd time while I was there lip syncing along to it because I love Ed Sheeran.

So the movie started and I watched it. (How interesting!)

Rant about the annoying movie people
Now here’s my rant about the cinema people. To the annoying group of people sitting to the right of me (H14+), kindly “go fuck yourself!” because you’re annoying as fuck.

You don’t need to comment on every single scene of the movie and laugh at inappropriate times. Why are you laughing when they are showing Hazel Grace’s face? And stop complaining about the book being better than the movie. You paid for a movie ticket, so watch the movie.

If you HAVE to comment on the movie every second please admit yourself to the mental hospital at least try to whisper to your friend. The whole cinema doesn’t need to know your opinion on the movie. And why not try watching the movie before you start your yapping! We’re not even 10 minutes into the movie and you’re giving your opinion already.

Also, I don’t need someone beside me to tell me “SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN!”. I’m not an idiot. And stop spoiling the entire movie for the people around you. You think you’re being a great help but really you’re just being a big asshole. There’s enough of those people on Twitter that spoiled the movie before I even watched it.

Censored the spoiler, because I’m not that kind of person. That picture has been re-tweeted about a million zillion times and you don’t understand how much that made me hate the book readers. I get it, you read the book! GREAT! Now quit being a dick and let others enjoy the feeling you felt while reading the book, this time, in the form of a movie.

Review of the actual movie
I’ll keep this spoiler-free. I rate it a 7/10. Honestly with everyone on Twitter spoiling the whole movie I didn’t even feel like watching it any more. But I still went because I wanted some feelssssss. So after watching it, I have to say, it’s overrated.

Yes, I did feel sad at points of the movie and it’s a story interesting enough to not have me fall asleep. BUT, the story is way too cliché. It was very predictable and honestly, not very original. There was also one particular scene which I think shouldn’t be in a PG13-rated movie, that was rather disturbing. But it gave me the feels + Ed Sheeran (I’m bias) so it deserves a 7/10.

And that sums up my rant and mini movie review. Actually, a mosquito is biting the hell out of my legs so I’m gonna go to my room and hide from it.
